Need help with a Word problem
I have a problem with one of my users in her Word 97 application. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this or not. If not, please direct me to the right place.
Basically, when she prints a document and specifies multiple copies it prints that number of copies AND that same number of groups of copies. For example, if she requests 5 copies she gets 5 stacks of 5 copies in each stack. It only does this from Word and only to that specific printer. I have removed and reinstalled the printer and her Office software. I have checked every imaginable setting in her printer properties, Word Options, Preferences, ... you name it. I can't find what is causing this.
Suggestions? And again, if this is the wrong place to post please forgive me and direct me to the right place.
Thanks!

How bizarre. Sounds like it could be a printer driver issue (i.e. a bug in it that re-installing wouldn't fix) but, if that were true, you would expect a multi-page Excel print to cause the same problem. Hmmmm. Tried different Word documents? Different kinds of content?
Try starting a new Word document, ensuring that the problematic printer is set as the default in Windows. Write a paragraph of completely plain text (just letters A-Z) and copy and paste it enough times to fill 5 pages. Then print it. Do you get the same problem? If not, then you can try to identify the differences between the very plain document and the sample(s) that you were printing when you were seeing the problem before. If you can identify the cause of the problem (e.g. bold text, font styles, headers, hyperlinks or bookmarks, etc), then it may be easier to get a resolution.
Hope that helps

I haven't had a chance to look at this again, due to Katrina we have had network outages between our plant in middle Tennessee and the one in Louisiana. Even though our Louisiana plant sustained no damage, the T1 servicing voice and data runs through New Orleans. We have been busy scrambling trying to turn up an alternate service.
In answer to your first post, I have tried a sample document containing the word "test" with the same results. I plan to revisit her machine this week and try a few more things. First I will login as administrator and see if it behaves the same way. If so, the next thing I plan on trying is a complete uninstall of Office, deletion of the folders associated with Office, and deletion of any registry entries associated with Office (after backing it up of course). Then I will reinstall it and see what happens.
I appreciate your time and interest and will post my results in the near future.
Best regards

OK, it's understandable that you have more important stuff to deal with at the moment. Hope you and your colleagues haven't been too seriously affected. We'll look forward to hearing how you get on when you get another chance to look at this.
