    Question Formatted vs. Unformatted cd's & dvd's

Can anyone explain the difference between formatted and unformatted cd's and dvd's? Is one better than another or work differently or what?

Also, I am having trouble with a brand new dvd skipping on a slide show I did. The music is skipping and during the slide show every once in a while I get a black screen and there are more photos to show. I have wiped the dvd off, and I cannot see any scratches. Is the dvd defective?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

Blank CD-R's and DVD's are ready to be written to straight away there is no need to format them. In XP you can simply drag and drop files straight to a blank CD through Windows Explorer.

With reagrd to the skipping DVD what software did you use? an what type of DVD disc?
