    MPEG Problems

    Hiya folks,
I'm having a few problems with MPEG videos on my PC. They will not play at all in Windows Media Player or Real or Winamp, I don't receive an error message, just a black screen.

MPEG videos will play in Nero Showtime, but the sound and the video are out of sync.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you get sound? What version of Mplayer are you running? Try upgrading if your not running the latest - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...a/default.aspx

No I don't get sound either. I'm running Media Player 9. I was running 10 before, but I downgraded to 9, then upgraded to 10 and then back to 9 again. No difference! I'll try going back onto ten again.

Heres what it looks like, this is playing the video for The Scientist by Coldplay:

Have you ever been able to run the videos? I'm just wondering if your missing the right codec?

Assuming you have XP this is a good overall codec pack:

Yes I used to be able to play MPEGs on WMP and I didn't use to have the out of sync problems. I have upgraded to 10 and still the same problems.

If I install the codec pack, will things still play with WMP or will I have to use an alternative player.

That pack I posted works on any player. It just happens to install the Media Player Classic as an optional player. Which is basically already on all Windows at Start/Run/ MPLAYER2.EXE

I have installed the pack and it hasn't made any difference.

What do you see under Control Panel | Folder Options | File Types | MPEG
