I am looking for software that allows recording with a line in .I had an excellent software program given to me ,unfortunately unaware I deleted it.
This program allowed thru line in to record any source of sound on the computer directly and to change to different formats MP3 etc ,
Is there any free software that would accomplish the above .

would like to know if there are any free software programs that would allow me to record direct to computer by line in ,instead of mic.and that would conver audio to MP3 so that I can put on to my MP3

most programs like that are just trials and you can only record up to 30 seconds unless you purchase the full version but i'll see what i can find

or you could try Try SoundForge or GoldenWave, these are also trials.

Try Acoustica mixcraft. Not free but very good.
