Hi, I'm just after some advice please. Have just started video editing, at this stage just using the free system included with Windows XP, and the connecting cable provided with the DV. However the resulting picture quality isn't brilliant, and since I can't afford a new PC I was wondering about a. getting a new graphics card and b. a firewire to improve matters. There isn't a firewire port on the computer but there is one spare PCI slot. Any thoughts welcome !

If you want good quality then £40/$70 will easily get you an ADS Pyro Firewire card, just google it to find a store near you.

As for graphics then look at Nvidia, make sure you look at the connection for the card you are buying though as new cards only support PCI Express or AGP 4x or 8x
