    Exclamation Capture issues!

    Hi,
Whenever i plug my DV camera into my 1394 port, my computer recognizes the camera, and I am allowed to control it from the computer (ex. rewind, play, etc.) However, it will not allow me to capture any video. When I try capturing in Premiere, it says that native windows 1394 DV drivers are incompatable, and windows movie maker says 'class not registered.' I have captured before, so I do not know what the problem is. Help!

    Hey,

Is the 1394 port built in or is this a separate card for which you have drivers? I'm just thinking first if you could try updating/installing the latest drivers...

    Hi,
I have fixed the issue. Turns out it was a a windows error. I used the boot disk to repair windows, and I can capture fine now!

    bdattilo:

I saw your post about getting an error message when trying to import video using Windows Movie Maker "Class Not Registered. I'm having the exact same problem and cannot import DV from my Sony DV camera via Firewire into my computer.

You replied that you used you Window's XP recovery disc to solve the problem. I do not want to reload my entire XP operating system or wipe anything out; so I would like to ask you to (please) provide detail about what I need to do to solve this problem.
Thank you very much - I'm in a jam with this issue.

    Hi,

Here is what I did to repair this problem:

Insert your Windows XP disc in the computer, and start it up.
Press any key to 'boot from CD.' Here it will prompt you to install Windows. Say yes, and it will take you to another screen where it will ask about new install etc. There will be an option to 'repair windows' requiring you you press "R" on the keyboard. Press this. XP will now delete and extract files, and then replace them. After this has completed, the blue windows install screen will come up (the one that displays features about XP and has a 'time till finished' counter). This is perfectly normal. After that has gotten done, go thourgh the windows config screens like you would on a new install. After all of this has been finished, your windows should be all fixed, and all the setting should be just as you left them. No files will have been deleted, and your hard drive will not have been wiped. I have used this method on about 10 different computers, and it has all worked.

    Good luck!
