ok.... so it is finals week and i am going buzerk (or is it bazerk bazurk WHATEVER). every single time i go to close word, it says that changes have been made that affect the global normal template, do you want to save those changes? ahhhh i can't stand it. now i looked up what it meant by global template and i get what it is, but how do i make this incessant message go away? i cant stand it. then sometimes it says that the normal file is in use do you want to save it something something something... so i say yes and a bit ago i saved a new gloabl template and i save it as that when it gives me that message. anyways, should i create a new global template? not sure how to do that. or can i just fix the problem or edit some of the things that i want to change in the global template like a font or margins. that stinken assistant does jack sometimes.
thanks ahead of time. you guys are always smart here.
Just a quick search finds this:
Let us know if this setting works or not.If you go to Tools-Options-Save and take the checkmark out of Prompt
to Save Normal Template, you'll no longer be prompted with the
"Changes have been made..." message. Most heavy users of Word like
it, though, because it lets us know that any changes we've made to our
toolbars, autotext, etc., are saved and safe. I always answer yes to
that question because I inevitably have tweaked something and want to
make sure it stays tweaked.
even when i open word for like literally 1 sec and then close it and it asks me if iw ant to save the changes, it is still normal? i thought my computer was messed up or something. i dont know how i can make changes when i open it up for like 1 sec then close it. so it's nothing wrong with my computer?? is it easy to create your own template? can you make word open on your template?
Did you try to make that setting change?
Did it change anything?
Here is a Microsoft dedicated Word group where you can search as well as post:

Hope this helps.
i changed it and it works, but it still performs illegal operations all the time. my word did it before and i tried to reinstall but it didnt do anything. it also messes around with printer and doesnt let me close the spooler manager. then when i force it to close, it erases the whole printer drive. i discovered this little annoyance on night at 3am. arrr.
but yes i changed it and it doesnt ask me to save changes to normal anymore. that annoyance is fixed. yaaaaay. thanks.
