Angry Vhs to DVD Dazzle capture Studio 9 software

Hi I have just started to learn how to capture VHS analogue tapes to my PC for editing and burning to DVD. To aid this I have a dazzle VC150 capture device and Studio 9 software to edit the capture. Problem is that the capture is coming in Black & White. I am playing the tape from my vhs vdeo player out through a scart socket into an S video converter into the dazzle device. From the dazzle device via USB 2 to the PC. Thr preview screen comes up in black and White, can anyone advise why it is not in colour?

Hi, Can you check your not set to use NTSC ? This would possibly cause this.

In simple terms the S_Video connector is no use if you are converting VHS analogue tapes to PC disk. The capture card in your PC MUST have a yellow phono "composite" video input socket. Using the S-video scoket on a capture card with an S-Video to phono converter lead only results in a black and white picture. I bought a WinTV PVR350 and it is useless for capturing old VCR / Camcorder tapes as it does not have a seperate phono composite socket. It only has the S-Video input and an adapter plug. However this does not work and I'm taking it back unless anyone can tell me a way of getting it to work. The box proudly boasts that I can connect my VCR and record my tapes but it doesn't tell me it will only work in black and white. Go to http://www.hauppage.com/faq/support_...50-350.html#21. This problem is rife and apparently not limited to Win TV. I feel the capture card manufacturers should make it clear that if a dedicated composite phono plug is not fitted on the card then recording analogue VCR to PC will not work in colour .
