Wrong company name in start up screen
A while ago after a few hardware problems, I had Microsoft office re-installed, unfortunately the guy who did this for me entered an incorrect company title to the opening screen. Trouble is, whilst its not a major issue we cant seem to rectify it. We tried a file search and attempted a search through the registry but we must either doing something wrong, or looking to correct this in the wrong area. Any one got any ideas??????.

Thanks Tassie Devil, I tried that link and went through all the GUID's but they all read as I want them to, I even re-wrote the name and re-started my machine but I am still getting the wrong company name in the splash screen on the microsoft office 2002 products. Any other ideas, I'll try any thing. Thanks anyone else with an idea please join in!!

Open your registry and find the key below for your version.
Office 2000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]
Office XP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]
Change the value of "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" to the required registered company and user names.
Then find the following registry key for your Office version.
Office 2000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Co mmon]
Office XP
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\C ommon]
And rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo".
Exit your registry, close all the Office programs and restart one. The registered company should now be changed on both the splash screen and in the About dialog box.

I followed your instruction (Office 2000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}] however, there's no "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" heading to be able to change.
Office XP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}] is the same.
I looked at the next part of your message and just wanted to confirm - rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo" is that the yellow folder name?
Thanks for your help so far Bad Karma
