lost sound
My computer booted up telling me it had to find a driver for Soundmax digital system. My system is not digital and I don't know where to go or what to do to get it back so it works right. Ideas?
-
Additionally, my speaker icon on the task bar does not come up with anything on either single or double click. Ideas?
-
Now I don't have the speaker on the task bar at all, but have downloaded Windows Media Player 9. How to get sound control back?
-
The task bar speaker is found via Control Panel | Sound and Audio Devices | Volume [tab] | [tick] Place volume
icon in the taskbar
Also check you Device Manager under Sounds... for any yellow "!"
Also what does it list as your sound device?
-
there is no listing for "sound and audio devices". What about multimedia? Where to go there?
-
What is the Operating System?
Multimedia is a good chance. What options are there? Volume?
Did you check Device Manager? For yellow "!"
To ID your Audio Source you can also check via Start | Run | dxdiag | sound | device | driver
-
got to sound1, but found no tab for either device or driver. It also said there were problems in the registry that were saved in the text file. Where do I see this text file?
-
What is your Operating System?

Also via start | run | dxdiag | sound
What is on that page?
Can you make a screen shot or type it out?

my system is not digital, so how to adjust this device for analog? I had Soundmax before, but could not tell how to make it run. I have 98se, BTW.
