usb not working operating system xp pro both usb's worked till i plugged in a printer

A usb printer?
Are you sure the ports arn't working? Or is the printer not working?
Have you tried other devices in the ports?
Have you checked your Device Manager?
Device Manager: RT click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager

How do u figure that all the ports worked ´til u plugged in a printer ?
Any devices connected to them ports before ?

If you have never used this printer before are you sure you have the correct drivers? It might be that current printer installations have borked so you might need to uninstall completely and start over.
