    New Norton Anti Virus Software

I currently have Norton Anti Virus 2003 on my PC. Instead of updating my current one, I have purchased Norton Anti Virus 2005.

Do I need to uninstall the 2003 before installing the Norton 2005? Or will it override what is already in there?

    I'd appreciate your advice.

    Thank You!

Although I wouldn't expect there to be any conflicts, I would still recommend going into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and removing Norton Anti-Virus 2003 and then rebooting before installing Norton Anti-Virus 2005.

You've said that you're installing this new version instead of "updating" your older one. Does that mean you've never done an online update (using the "LiveUpdate" button)? It's essential that you run the LiveUpdate process every week to stay protected against all the latest viruses. Several viruses are released every week and the only way that your computer will know how to detect and block all of them is if you regularly update your virus definition files using LiveUpdate.

I worded that wrong, I guess. I have always run the live update so it's current. What I meant was it was cheaper to buy the new one than it would have been to renew the subscription for the 2003. Does that make more sense??

    Thanks.

Oh I see. Yes, I do that as well. Same advice then - probably best to remove Norton Anti-Virus (NAV) 2003 before rebooting and installing NAV 2005

Running the setup for 2005 will automatically remove 2003 for you Mine did
