Have just had my pc cleared out and had windows xp re-installed.All is okay and have re-installed my scanner and printer and other programmes okay using the disc installation but.............. have treated myself to a new microsoft wireless optical mouse,the disc will not install auto and will not run and shows me an error ''application error-faulting application setup.exe version 5.2413.0'' or ''application failed to initiate properly (oxc0000006)'' anyone with an idea to fix this ? thanks.

have you tried installing the software in safe mode?

is the mouse installed as you try to install the software? or does the software install before the mouse?

Hiya, it's a microsoft intellipoint 5.2
I have a microsoft intelipoint 4.1 already on - not wireless, (before my hard drive was cleared)
I have not tried installing in safe mode yet but will do.
I have followed the info in the book which states the softwear must be installed 1st.
It does state on the box ok for windows xp.It is not a legit version of xp though,but other softwear has loaded ok ?

Have now tried safe mode and no joy there !!
error messages that came up are ;
''setup cannot continue because one or more of the required installation files are missing or damaged'' and;
''cannot access specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item ''

Thanks for help and suggestions guys - new mouse is up and running,got the link for microsoft mouse software and downloaded that,no problems at all !!!
But still pussled as to why disc would not run,faulty perhaps or do i still have a pc problem ?
