    Software Problem

I'm having a problem with an old Print Shop Deluxe 3 that I used to have installed on my PC. I used it up till a couple months ago when I tried to open it and got an error. Since then, I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, deleted the registry keys manually and tried reinstalling with no luck. This isn't an emergency, just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas.

During installation it tells me a specific DLL file is already in my files and asks me if I want to overwrite it or not and when it is finished with the install (it's supposed to automatically start the program) it gives me a Command Line Argument Error that says:

    Unable to run D:\Setup32\autorun\autorun.exe /h

Then when I try to launch the program myself, it gives me an error report with this info:

    AppName: psdwin.exe AppVer: 4.1.0.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.1106 Offset: 0001650d

    C:\DOCUME~1\Arella\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER3.tmp.dir00\ap pcompat.txt

Blimey, you're not joking - Print Shop Deluxe III is a really old version !! The latest is version 20. Your version was designed for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. Looks like you're running Windows XP - did you install it using Windows XP's "Compatibility Mode".

Although it's talking about Windows 95, the software manufacturer's web site does quote an error in the same files that your PC is having trouble with. It says that it can be caused by systems having more than 200 fonts installed: http://support.broderbund.com/faq_li...?id=1294818002

    Hope that helps

Hmmm... you may just have hit the nail on the head. My hubby has the same program running on his WinXP and we both had no problems. About 2 months ago it messed up on my PC, and the other day my hubby's PC did the same thing - after he had installed some fonts. Yes, that just might be the exact cause. Thank you sooo much.

Nope, I wasn't joking. PSD III is a good program that I used to use everyday.

If the fonts were installed by another program that you've just installed, you might be able to remove the new program through the Add/Remove Programs screen in Control Panel. Failing that, you might find a Fonts screen in Control Panel where you could uninstall the new fonts one by one.

Hope that does get it sorted out for you

My hubby just did a System Restore and got his working again. I, on the other hand, have to do it the hard way since it's been a couple of months. Unfortunately, I have to go through each font one by one, because I'm a font fanatic. I install fonts without a program that goes with them. However, I can look to see if I find any that have been installed within the last 2 months, maybe it is just one or two of them. I checked and it says I have almost 1000 fonts on here. LOL.

Yes, I think this is what the problem is, but it may take awhile to clean all these fonts up. I looked for an uninstall for the fonts, but couldn't find one.

Actually, I took all fonts out that it would to check to see if that was the problem and PSD III opened up like nothing happened.

Now all I have to do is put back each important font and leave the others out.
