I've installed M/S Virtual PC within an XP Pro operating system, and it's working well. At the moment I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server running.

One function I'd like to have within the Windows 2000 Server environment is the ability to scan documents. I have a Canon 8000F attached (USB2) to the XP Pro PC.

Is there a way to make the Scanner seen over the network - same way as a printer.

I've never heard of any way of having a scanner shared across a network. I understand exactly what you're trying to do with Virtual PC (I've just started using it myself) but, in "real life", it wouldn't make sense. You would have to physically go to the host PC to put the paper into the scanner so it would be pretty rare to want the scanning software on the client (e.g. Win2000) PC somewhere else around the network.

Can't you install the scanner in the Windows 2000 virtual environment?
