are you still having problems with your dvd burner if not could you please let us know and i will close this thread

while searching for a solution for my own dvd burner problem i found this thread

using dvd decrypter i pretty much get the same error that the original poster did

i have tried different media (i was originally mid spindle when it started happening)
usually starts lead in - mostly never gives a device buffer
occaisonally gets farther

i have made my dvd burner the master and unplugged my regular cd burner
adjusted the jumper

checked all cable connections

but the dvd burner burned a small file onto a cdrw the other day
so i guess its just the dvd part

i have xp sp2 which ive had for i think 2 years
i have burned 20-30 dvds with this burner maybe - just about a year old
in august i replaced my motherboard because of a power surge (i guess) but i have burned 1 or 2 dvd's since then

basically, i know of nothing that i did to cause this
im running an epox8rda3+ pro and the dvd burner is an toshiba sd-r5372

my nividia drivers are new and my burners firmware has been updated
ill check and see if my bios has been flashed

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

i know the drive works in general, as i can still view dvd's

my bios version is phoenix 6.00
and the newest version is 6.02.08

i use adaware to combat spyware and avg against virus
and zonealarm
