Windows Error in a Nuclear Power Plant?!

An error is seen on a computer screen of Bushehr nuclear power plant's map in the Bushehr Port on the Persian Gulf, 1,000 kms south of Tehran, Iran on February 25, 2009.

    Some interesting comments at reddit

That's not Windows, that's WinCC, a industrial visualization software from Siemens SIMATIC WinCC - Intro . WinCC licenses don't expire, so my guess is they just defragmented their drive. That sometimes messes up the licenses. The only side effect of that is that you get this warning from time to time. I wouldn't get too upset about it.

Because the license lodges itself on the disk and stores its position on the disk. This is done because WinCC is usually sold preinstalled on advanced PGs (Programmiergerät SIMATIC Programming devices - SIMATIC Programming devices - Siemens) This feature is supposedly implemented to speed up the boot of the PG and to prevent piracy
Iran's nuclear plant out of operation because its software license has expired!!!! Microsoft saves the world!!!! : technology

    ....

I made a huge mix-up then. The site where I found that link on said it's Windows and I just took it for granted. Oh bummer.

    Terribly sorry then.

No problem. That is how the link got spread around.

It was just discovered at reddit to be otherwise.

reddit has a bunch of real programmers that can spot this stuff.
