Can't blame Linux for being in puberty when Microsoft has cornered the market for O/S. All software suppliers have catered to Microsoft since 1995 but the trend is slowly changing over to writing compatible software for MAC and Linux in incremental steps. Any trade off has its ups and downs,

i run vista, and have virtual pc which emulates win 2k and kubuntu - best of both worlds
I also have a powermac somewhere

Well I was using the Amrel earlier when the screen Decided to go south on me for some reason. Acting like a hardware problem. Unplugged it and put it away for right now. Posting this in Ubuntu.
