Wink Re: not my lucky day today!!

Bloody Hell, but just think you wouldn't have to go far for treatment or the mortuary . Over here Hospitals were exempt for years from statutory fire regs but when they eventually came under the Fire Precautions Act they had to spend millions to come up to standard.

I had a reply today. On the salary, they say that they only discuss money when you get called back for the second interview. Hmm, how about, I'll answer that question about any criminal convictions at the second interview too?

On the second point they said that they'd been audited by all the usual health and safety outfits and 'nobody had ever raised the issue before'. I know from other places that inspectors can easily be fobbed off with a promise to fix it, and that promise can be made over and over for YEARS without any action being taken. They thanked me for bringing it to their attention, which was nice, because if there is any incident there, I have my email to them, and theirs back as proof it was received and read.

Here there should be an external in the open air wire cage locked with full LPG another for empty LPG and acetylene and in a different one etc I would guess that the same would apply in Australia

More or less. They had the external cage, and the small oxygen and other cylinders were well secured within it, but the LPG cylinders were parked right beside them. And the cage itself was only a few metres from where the forklift was parked, which again tempted disaster I would have thought.

I might have to petition Mike to change the name of this thread, because it was definitely my lucky day today. I woke up and discovered that I'd sold 8 cards at RedBubble.com - total income about $5, but it felt great all the same. Then I had an interview with a lens making firm who are based just 25 minutes walk from home, and they offered me a job in the warehouse. I start next Tuesday, after Easter.

And since it's Saint Patrick's Day, and he might just have had a hand in the deal:

    Well done Paul

    I might join that petition!!

I'm now halfway through a 2 week trial at pilkingtons and the manager of the production side who im working with has said im a hard worker, keen and willing to get stuck in, he said if i want to apply for manufacturing i have a really good chance!

When he asked what was happening after this week, I told him i'm finished on the 4th April but carrying on with my national certificate on a monday he said he didnt realise it was that bad and he will see if he can sort something out! (not promising anything)
