Re: not my lucky day today!!
Well done on the Theory test 100% not many get that.
-
Thank you both
I only got 100% on the multiple choice (not the hazard perception), it seemed easier then all the practices i'd done! It only took me 9 and a half mins (out of 57!!)
On the hazard perception i got 47 out of 75 (43 is the pass mark!) I find it harder on the computer, on the roads i spot and respond to hazards all the time! my instructor said my hazard perception is good.... but i dont like doing it on the PC.

I have a job interview myself today. Yeah, Sunday, that's right.
A bookstore needs someone to manage the backroom; goods in and out, etc. It's a storeman's role essentially. The job appeared briefly last month but dropped off the website before I applied. It turned up again on Thursday so yesterday I sat down and wrote a zinger of an application letter. Ten minutes later I got an email from the manager.

The interview on Sunday went well, thanks for asking, but I won't know until next week. I had another interview today and, well, this email I sent afterwards will say it all:
Hello
I attended an interview for this position today. I wish to advise that I am no longer interested.
The principal reasons are money and safety.
Firstly, the money question. XXX and XXXX were both very easy to speak with. They explained the requirements of the job in some detail. When I raised the subject of what the position paid, however, they clammed up good and tight. XXXX explained that the manager would offer me a figure if I was selected.
I don't think that's good enough. Before the interview I was given a questionnaire six pages long to fill out. I was asked all the usual questions. But the people asking the questions were not able to answer mine. BullXXXt! I say. I turned up prepared to provide information; your people should have been likewise prepared. If they don't have all the information I want, then as far as I'm concerned I'm talking to the wrong people.
That piece of rigmarole annoyed the hell out of me. The second matter was much more serious. As Yvonne was showing me around I noticed the caged off area where gas cylinders are kept. Sitting right beside the oxygen tanks were a couple of LPG tanks for the forklift. I commented on that, and XXXX said it was going to be attended to sooner or later. She then went on to list all the renovations and improvements that were taking place - about $130 million worth, if I heard correctly.
You're spending $130 million on renovations and you can't find the few thousand it would cost to keep dangerous materials properly isolated. That sort of thinking has a way of ending in tragedy.
No thanks.

I know what gas cylinder's can do I was in the fire service, we got a shout to a stable alight, we were the first appliance in attendance, it was a stable but it was also a large range of prefabricated farm buildings all well alight. On arrival we were told that there were 3 gas cylinders involved two were located by other members of our crew and I located the third. As I was dragging it away from the building there was a god almighty band followed by a whoosh, as I was flying through the air backwards I watched the ball of flame rise two to three hundred feet in the air. I landed on my back on a concrete roadway 10 to 12 feet away from where I started from. I was off sick for a year and pensioned off due to injury. The fire investigation team found the remains of 35 other gas cylinders in the building. The farmer was proscuted under Health and Safety and was given a hefty fine amounting to tens of thousand pounds. If the employer is slack about health and safety for their staff they are criminally negligent to their staff and should be prosecuted and do not deserve to be managers or employers. I would have done the same thing as you and walked out.

That's pretty much what I could see happening at this place.
The scary part is, it's a hospital.
