Re: not my lucky day today!!
Ahh politics and religion are the two greatest forces for evil, I have my beliefs but don't try to force yours on to me. If one looks at world history all wars and man's inhumanity to man have all been down to man's interpretation of religion, Politics/avarice, love thy neighbour then go out and kill, torture your neighbour because they have a different religion or they have something you haven't.
Sorry getting a bit heavy.

I recently noticed that immigrants only really come over to the UK because they like our money mainly, but also because our government and politics are better than theirs. You wouldn't find someone going on holiday to Iraq would you? Infact, jumping from the point i was going to make, why the hell are we killing people for oil! Economising is the answer to our problems!

I found an article that answers your question much better than I could, k9, but demme, it doesn't appear to be available from the magazine's website!
The article was called 'Green Skies' by Mary Grady. It appeared in Cosmos magazine issue 19.
It didn't directly address economising, as you put it, but described the various possibilities for making air travel more environmentally friendly. Concentrating on the new Boeing Dreamliner but touching on other issues as well, eg airport procedures.
We can easily forget that technology is in a constant state of change. The challenge is always to do more with less; the jet engines of today, for example, are 25% more efficient, and noticeably quieter, than the engines that powered passenger jets forty years ago.
The evil masterminds of Big Oil, scheming their cold dead hearts out in their boardrooms, aren't quite a complete myth. But they are pretty close to it. Hell, Bill Gates is the richest man in the world, and not even he can stop the spread of freeware like the Open Office suite.

I see, i see, the idea just came to mind when i was typing, so i wondered what the rest of you thought of it.
The future is an amazing thing, but we must not forget what life was like in the past. Sure, life has improved a great deal for us now, especially for my generation... but it is too easy. Nowadays, anything we want to find out is googled, Heck to that! Some people in my school don't even know how to use an index or a dictionary propperly. I'm just glad that i took the time to understand what people were trying to teach me when i was younger
Oh, this has came to mind now. It's about the future... Robots infact... About how they will have "human" rights... What the hell do the government do with their time! They should have them by 2056...

Rights for robots?
"You have the right to remain switched off. Anything you compute can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to technical support during questioning. If you cannot afford technical support a help desk manager will be appointed for you."
EDIT - back the the question of technology and the environment... I don't know about anyone else, but I's just a tad weary of those celebrities who don't practice what they preach.

Well, well... The polar ice caps will melt... we will melt... Aaa! i'm MELTING! Oh, apparantly the orangutans will be extinct within the next 3 years if we don't do something to protect their environment soon! Sorry to keep jumping the news
