    Evesham complaint- Update

I made a complaint on here about evesham a while back which can be found here

I gave up arguing in the end and sent the PC off for repairs. It was returned a few hours ago. PC came with the following note

"replaced case front - LCD display now reading fans correctly. Reseated both video cards, then booted windows and enabled SLI mode. Testing using CDMark fr several hours. No additional Faults found, all tests OK."

Take pc out of box and find...

Top of case dented and scratched, silver finish removed on the edges

Close up of damaged finish, as you can see it looks like a scouring pad has been taken to the once metallic silver finish and it has chunks missing out of it at the front. That isnt dirt.... its the actual finnish thats been removed! You can also just about make out a dent top right.

Bottom of the case its the same scenario dents, scratches and silver finish removed

Side of the front panel wasn't attached at all, and once again, scratched!

Whole PC is filthy dirty ( was perfectly clean when i sent it off) and more scratches

Back of case scratched same as front, and dented, it looks like they couldn't get the side panel on so used pliers to try and squash it back together

View from another angle showing how they have bent the case trying to put it back together

Also bent the side panel trying to wedge it back on

Looks like they for some odd reason decided to remove the floppy drive / memory card reader and forget to put it back!

(there are lots more dents and scratches, but to be honest, ive given up photographng them as id be here all week)

    oh and the best bit?

They managed to smash the front of the case into 2 pieces. ( you can see the piece that has snapped off sitting on top of the case)

Evesham are claiming that they didn't do it, it must have happened in transit (they suggest it may have happened in the warehouse, it possibly got hit by a forklift truck!) as they thoroughly check all of the machines before they are sent back( yet the box it was delivered in... by THEIR courier in has no marks on it, nore does that polystyrene that the PC was contained in inside the box!

They now say no one can collect the PC till next week, i have to send it back to them AGAIN and it will be another 7-10 working days!

This is the last straw, its bad enough they cant make a PC that works for more than 2 months, but now they break the few bits that do actually work!!! Next step, Consumer support, letters to legal department etc. My warantee expires in about 2 months now, and lets face it, its going to come back and break again!

I hope you get satisfaction Clairey.
Firms like this - you wish they'd just hang a sign in the front window: "Sod off. We don't want your business." It would make like much easier for the rest of us.

I have gotten hold of Evesham, all they have said is they are sorry, send the pc back to them and they will fix it. They have also suggested i send a letter of complaint.

What do you feel would be a reasonable level of compensation? I'm thinking an extra years guarantee? Id like to push for a completely replacement system, but lets face it, that isn't going to happen!

I haven't even tried to boot the thing up, it probably wont work, Ive just shoved it back in the box it was delivered in as i am beyond chairing now!

Def wont buy another PC from them! ( shame really as Ive had a few computers from them, and they have been great in the past) Thinking Alienware next time if budget permits, if not ill learn how to build one myself!

Anyone any good with complaint letters?

Didn't madmikejt12 have a complaint letter posted somewhere? It was pretty good as I recall.

My advice would be to write a first draft that calls Evesham all the dirty names you can think of. Go to town on them! Then, cut away all the abusive stuff and leave only the facts about your computer and the problems you've had. This strategy has worked pretty well for me.
What you're aiming for is a cool-headed description of the facts. No rudeness.
Also - nothing personal here - make sure your spelling and grammar are all correct. Retailers and tradesmen are more inclined to take a complaint seriously when you take that sort of trouble; it's a sign that you're not just letting off steam and will soon forget about it.
Finish with a polite warning that unless you get a satisfactory response within a reasonable time, say, three weeks, copies of the letter will be forwarded to your local consumer affairs office (another reason to keep it polite and factual).

    Thanks.

I spoke to "Consumer Direct" and thats pretty much what they said, they are sending me out some draft letters in the post. I am going to include one copy of the letter along with the PC when they pick it up and i am going to send another copy recorded delivery along with photos and copies of emails ive exchanged with evesham tecnhical support and logs of all the repairs ive had done.

    Wish me luck

You would be suprised, speak to the right people and explain why you are unhappy and don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you want and stick by it.

Hopefully the letters will help you out but it's one of those situations you must persist with. It's all too easy to give up and that's what many companies rely on. It will be interesting to see how Evesham handle it.

Thats terrible!! the fact it arrived to you like that isnt acceptible, even if they blame the delivery, it is still their responsibility to get it to you in 1 piece isnt it?

Didn't madmikejt12 have a complaint letter posted somewhere? It was pretty good as I recall.
Yes i did, it was to the carphone warehouse... I havnt got a copy of it anymore, may be on here somewhere.

If you mention the sale of goods act 1979 in your letter, you may get a better response because it re-enforces how serious you are (my opinion anyway)

    http://www.johnantell.co.uk/SOGA1979.htm Scroll to section 48A and 48B

Ive had a few problems with o2 and natwest recently, i just phoned them up, said i wasnt happy and why and they sorted it for me!!
