    Lightbulb E-Voting

Study: Hackers Could Change E-Voting Machine Results

I suppose there has always been election corruption.

The notorious 2000 race in the US with Florida's "hanging chads". I hadn't seen those punch cards since I was doing tests in high school.

Back then we were still at war with Eastasia.

Anyway just thought it an interesting article. I remember a 60 Minutes program on Diebold a while back and you just got this sinister feeling.

    I did anyway.

I hate to brag - if you can call this bragging - but an inner suburb of Melbourne had a long and inglorious tradition of dodgy elections:
It has been said of Richmond that it is the only place in Australia where dead men voted.

Didn't need no hackers back in those days!

    A detailed account here:

    Just a follow-up article:

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,13...s/article.html

    Excerpt:

The report cited a number of security gaps in the Diebold systems.

For example, it said, Diebold's Accuvote OS optical scan machine is vulnerable to vote manipulation by illicitly inserting a pre-programmed memory card into a voting terminal. The card, the report said, could be coded to flip votes from one candidate to another without detection.
