After I won the February comp D-A-L contacted me to say that he was unable to order the Ipod prize for me in Aus through the Apple website in the UK. Frankly, I was relieved. Because I'm not an Ipod person. Call me old-fashioned, but I much prefer to enjoy my music in the comfort of my loungreoom, nursing a gin and tonic while I watch the glassware rattle in the cupboard.
D-A-L very generously agreed to bend the rules just a tad and forwarded cash in lieu. The prize money, I can now announce, has provided me with another 512MB of ram - that gets me up to 2GB now - and the video card which has been such an interesting and absorbing part of my life this last week. Thanks, D-A-L, thanks also Kaistar and Dan for your ideas, and thanks to all of you who tuned in to follow the saga to its happy ending. The threat got 124 hits so I guess a few of you were keeping a close eye on it.
Thanks also to Alex Ngai at netdummy in Singapore. In a desperate moment I emailed Alex asking for advice; by the time I got his reply the problem was solved, but I appreciate his readiness to share his time and his ideas.
