nearly ready to start my router test (at my nans, who hasnt had a single problem with aol for about 4 years would you believe!!!).... leaving it on over night and seeing if the DSL light is still solid in the morning as it re-sets every few seconds at home when it has been left on for a few hours.... to be honest, im hoping it does work because that means that our phone line is the problem and not the router that I have paid for

Haha, you're not alone Mike. I'm stuck here with a broken leg 
Make sure the filter at home is good. Just as a check.

well, it was on from 12-8 and still perfect in the morning!!! on aol live 'help' now...
i have tried 3 different (brand new) filters and 4 rj-11 cables!!!!

So on your nans computer the same router is working/not working???

on nans computer (well... phone line) it works fine (with the same settings)
aohell said repair ACS (aol connectivity service) and re-install aol software (even though the router connects without using aol, without the computer being on... i was even connected after a clean install before aol was on the computer!!!!
they said otherwise, there is a problem with the settings... which there clearly isnt because like i said to them twice, it works fine at my nans!!

Your nan hasn't had any problems with aol in four years?
If her luck's that good she should buy a lottery ticket.

.... i think ive had all her problems for her :|:| i dont think we have had a week of perfect internet in all the time we have been with aol (6 years) apart from the first 2 years when we had dial-up and an old win 95 computer and didnt use it that much!!!!
