Mike, how long have you been with AOL and for how long have you had this problem?

I've a kid here whose being very stubborn hugging statments like "AOL is the best ISP in th world, due to online recommendations and advice by professionals" (I don't know which earth he's been contacting) and won't desist from signing on with them. I know how bad its reviews are, all over, just wanted to ask you this.

    Thanks.

weve been with aol 6 years (2 on broadband)... its not bad.... if you dont mind getting thrown off every so often (usualy when you need it most) connection issues (not being able to sign on, having to delete and re-detect the modem, aol wont find the modem, unplug and replug the modem and try again... finally, you get on for half an hour before it decides it doesnt want to stay on!!

as for the software, WHEN you get thrown off, all your webpages disapear and are not saved in history... gone completely.. you have to start from scratch....

if aol didnt offer us broadband for £9.99 a month with another 12 year contract, we would be with another ISP.... i would rather pay £20 a month and go with someone else!! (and i personally would pay my mum!!! lol)

if she used it, i think she would have ditched it ages ago, she doesnt realise how furstrating it is!!!!!

however, having said all that... the problem COULD be our phone line

Call aol, get them to run a line test... after them doing that bout 6 times they found a fault on our line... the card at the exchange was faulty and had to be replaced so was causing intermittant connection problems.

They text me " line test complete, can you connect" i text back " no" and they sent a bt engeneer out to look at the line who found the problem

Was aol's fault so engeneer was free.. they did the line test themselves and txt me the next morning.. even though i could get online i sent back that it had failed... because i knew it would go down again intermittantly
