    Gigabeat help??

does anyone own a gigabeat "F" series or know someone who owns one?

i accidently formatted it and the firmware wont install (says please connect gigabeat even though it shows up in my computer) also, i have no screen so can't see whats going on

so all i need it the contents (apart from picture and music folders) in a .zip folder so i can un-zip it to my gigabeat and hope that it works

    Thanks
    Mike

I don't know this personally: just my searching surfing:

    http://www.answers.com/topic/gigabeat

    http://www.answers.com/topic/rockbox

    http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...TF-8&q=Rockbox

Unfortunately I get no response from the Rockbox site.

    Thanks for the links
on the rockbox website it says this:
    Toshiba Gigabeat

The Toshiba Gigabeat F20, F40, F41, X30, and X60 are in active development.
does that mean its not ready for the gigabeat?

also, i would prefer the Gigabeat's firmware as i know my way around that and havnt got a screen to learn how to use any other firmware.

try re-installing firmware... when you connect it via usb does it come up as a hard drive?

i got mine working in start>programs>Gigabeat (or whatever your gigabeat folder is called) there is a "program folder" i copied and pasted the entire content of that onto my gigabeat (replacing all other duplicate folders, i.e ones you already have) unplugged it from the usb, plugged it in again and hey presto

ok. i tried to update. My gigabeat room still does not open and my gigiabeat now says that there is no system found on HDD.

i would suggest yo simply go to the "program folder" in gigabeat room from the start menu, copy ALL the files and folders including the hidden ones (tools>folder options>view and tick the box that says "show hidden files and folders") and paste them on your gigabeat drive if it asks you to overwrite any files/folders click "yes to all"

in my computer does it say "GIGABEAT ([letter])"? if not, you need to rename it so it does (when re-naming, you just type in GIGABEAT, the letter will be assigned automatically)

    Hope this helps
    Mike
