    on this day

a couple of funnies for August 4th

Alexander Graham Bell was buried in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, on this day in 1922. You may wonder why the American who invented the telephone was buried in Nova Scotia.

I'd say, probably, because he was dead.

Today is Coast Guard Day, marking the founding of the U.S. Coast Guard on this day in 1790. The Coast Guard is the only branch of the armed forces with a perfect record. In over 200 years they haven't lost a coast.

    and in 1983

Toronto police arrested Yankee outfielder Dave Winfield for "causing unnecessary suffering to an animal" after Winfield threw a baseball during warm-ups and accidentally killed a seagull.
