    Celebrations here for rescued miners.

The whole country is celebrating here after 2 of our Tassie miners were trapped for 14 days underground after a cave in. The 2 men walked free just before 6am this morning after being trapped in a confined space so small they couldnt even stand up.
The local church bell, which hadn't been rung since the end of world war 2, rang out when the men arrived on the surface.
They were taken to hospital for observation and a checkup and will probably be released later today in time for them to attend the funeral of their mate who died in the cave in.

Yes it is a shame. One of the guys here didn't make it, his funeral was today.

On the up side there are now 2 guys who discharged themselves from hospital 3 hours after they got there and the celebrations continue. They are now looking for different jobs, don't blame them after 14 days iunderground. Oh we will have some hangovers tomorrow.

That is good news. They must of had some food and water with them to survive that long. Didn't they?

They had seepage water and no food for 5 days before the rescuers found them. Then a pipe was put in to deliver food, water, clothes and medical supplies until the rescuers could dig them out. The psychological effects will be the hardest to deal with I think.

It was good to see on the news.

one point you made about being underground for 14 days, on the news it showed them finally clocking off, will they get paid for all the over time.

I wish them and their families all the best.
