    how we lived years ago..

at the moment I'm tracing my family tree so far gone back to about 1787 on one side. I was amazed to see a distant relative of mine (great, great Granddad) had a domestic servant....but she was only 8......kids today moan about tidying their mess in the bedroom, what a different culture we live in..

god paper rounds are a luxury

We have traced our lineage on my mother's side to my Great, Great, Great Granddad, Andrew Ferguson and his pleadge of allegeance to the Colony of Virginia in 1774 (he was about 14 at the time!)

We never had servents on that side of the family...an interesting point when you look at the US War between the states in 1861-5 which was turned into a war on slavery. Southern states like Virginia allowed slavery, and everyone on this side of the pond thinks all southerners had slaves when that was only for the rich plantations.

Another interesting point was that during that war, my family sold its apples to the Brits! Shot all the recruiters from both the northern and southern armies if they came by!

I like computer work vs. picking apples!

Nope, just Derwood and Hamilton. He came over from Aberdeen. My great Grandpa came from Weston Supermare Wales in 1871 to Bluefield West Virginia USA.
