Anyone know why we only get mince pies at Christmas? They're so nice that I wish we had them all year round. Maybe they only grow in certain seasons like strawberries. The thing is that we import strawberries from other hotter countries when it's not the right season for them to grow here. I wonder if we could do the same with mince pies?
Why don't you bake your own? You can buy jars of mincemeat all year round.![]()
its all to do with supply and demand. if their available all year the prie will go down. if the only bring them out at christmas they make more money...
You could be onto something there Jaynee. If I actually baked them myself in the summer, when we can't get them here, and then stuck little 'Grown in New Zealand' stickers on them or something like that, I could sell them to the supermarkets, lol !![]()
That's far too unimaginative to be true DJDK !Originally Posted by DJDK

All i know is it is illegal in the UK to eat a mince pie on Christmas day!
I'm sure I saw some mince pies in ASDA the other day..I know I saw some hot cross buns, the local Somerfield has Easter eggs..![]()
Tesco have had easter eggs since before christmas.
Ever get the feeling that our supermarkets are trying to cash in on our generosity during festive periods and drag it out for as long as possible, lol?!
buy 3 easter eggs and save 5p on a box of mince pies!!!
