    Legal Music

hi, i was wondering if anyone could help me with this.....
I am looking for a LEGAL music download program with a monthly subscription, i tired napster to go trial but that is like a music rental service, i prefer napster light but dont like paying 79p a song. Can you burn CD's with a normal Napster subsription (£9.99 a month) i also want music on the mp3 that i'm getting (compatible with WMP10, Napster to go and gigabeat room software)
BTW, it doesnt have to be napster lol
I am in the UK if that helps.
    Thanks, Mike

I have got the napster £9.99 a month version and to be honest It's crap. You still have to pay if you want to download anything. It's still 79p per song. I think I will have to get rid of it.

Yeh I don't pay any monthly fee with Napster just 0.79 per track, I think it's a good service actually haven't had any problems.

I have just been looking at the faqs and it seems like the one to go for is "napster to go." £14.95 a month and you can can transfer unlimited amounts of music to your pc and mp3 player. The one I have is just for unlimited streaming of the music..... still have to pay for downloads.

i don't mind napster light, but when i want to download lots of music, it's a bit much and i only have a paper round for a job!!! lol

I've got a napster to go trial but you have to buy the songs to burn CD's, i wouldnt mind that if the music was going to stay on but it says you have to plug your mp3 player in at least once a month or something so i think when you cancel your subscription, the songs become un-playable, i know they are un-playable on the pc after your subscription ends.

I wouldnt mind paying £15 a month for a few months then stop it for a while then carry it on, because there are going to months when i don't want many songs

Could try Virgin Digital's Digital Music Club (£9.99 pm unlimited downloads/streams).

Easy to stop start the sub too, so you can knock it on the head for a month or so then kick right in again. As with ALL these MP3 sites there are limitations RE Digital Rights Management, etc. (Check the small print).

by limitations, you mean the burning to cd/ copying to mp3 don't you? it says something like you can burn 5 CD's for each playlist and copy to 5 different mp3 players an unlimited number of times..... that is not exactly right but is that what you ment?

    I might try that.....
    Thanks

    found this in the FAQ's:
Q: Why can't I burn or transfer my downloaded tracks from the Music Club?

A: Think of the Music Club as a music rental service. As long as your subscription is current, you can download and listen to as much as you would like. If you were to cancel your subscription you would no longer have the ability to play the content that you downloaded. In order to keep things forever, you need to own them. That is what the Digital Music Store is for. When you own a song, you have the innate right to be able to burn that track to a CD or transfer it to a supported portable device.
that is like a rental service like napster
