Rift, I havent been doing this as long as you have (since 1980, hardware) but I wanted to let you know that of all the forums _I_ Have ever visited, this one has always welcomed anyone willing to register and post a question or comment. A tur LURKER is as DAL pointed out, posts a question and doesnt return after the question is answered. This is perfectly fine for me since this is my hobby and what I enjoy doing (When I am on broadband!)
If you have problems, this is the best site to come to in my opinion and I have sent several people here over the year that I have helped here.
Andy
Personally, I thought 'newbie' and 'lurker' summed up my status very nicely. I drop in every so often, have a look around, and ask a question.
Actually, I want my title upgraded to 'Download Tragic'. If I'm going to sit enraptured watching percentages and kB tick over when I could be doing something useful instead, I might as well earn some public acclaim for it.
well my computer knowledge is no where near as experianced or cool sounding!Originally Posted by Riftvalley

I found my way onto D_A_L when my pc was being irritating, and i wanted some advice wether to throw it out the window and buy a new one, or upgrade it... same here, although it doesnt look too good at the moment, one of my HD's has stopped working, ill have to try it again on saturday, it was the master one, i tried re-installing xp and it said it couldnt find the drive, i hadnt done anything to it, just shut it down as usual and 2 hours later when i tried to put it on it wasnt booting. ill plug it in as slave to see if its physicaly broken if i can find a jumper, i didnt need one before because no jumper for 20GB=Master and no jumper for the 40GB=slave but i did have them the other way round and had to buy a pack of 10 jumpers so i put the rest of them in a box with the rest of my computer stuff.
