Thanks for the thoughts & vibes.

Both Katrina & Rita passed within 50 miles of Key West (where I live) as just catagory 1 hurricanes. No major damage, just lost power for a day each.

Both became similar beasts after passing.

Rita is half way to Texas & we are still in the tail of squally rain.

Bear has posted that he lives in south eastern Texas

    Best of luck Bear!

    Be Safe!

Good luck guys, if you need to get to higher ground I got a furnished bedroom I'm not using here in Denver.

Seriously, if you need it you can use it. I think I'm about a 20 hour drive from Galveston.

Well Wilma sent us back to the stone age for a few days. This thing called electricity came back today replacing candles & ice.

My house stayed high & dry but 70% of the island was under 4' of ocean. There is a layer of mud & seaweed on the streets & in most peoples homes. The homes are litteraly inside out as the furniture & appliances line the street waiting for the dump trucks.

Fortunately I've heard of no serious injuries; just a big soggy mess. Alot of questions about hard drive recovery after salt water submersion.

Living here in cool damp Southern England, I really feel for you people over there who get regular hurricanes. We haven't had a proper one since October 1987 (everything crossed), and they still insist that wasn't a "real" hurricane, even though they reported wind speeds of 122 mph and 15 million trees lost (plenty of buildings lost too, but you know what these idiots are like).

There's just one tiny part of Texas the whole world would like to see totally destroyed, and at a time when the idiot is in residence, but as far as the rest of you are concerned, I'm sure everybody on here joins me in hoping you don't get it too bad and soon get back to normal.

Btw, if I get my wish and your idiot gets blown away, any chance of returning the favour? Our idiot lives in a barred and gated road in London called Downing Street. A nice category 5 mini-tornado aimed at numbers 10 and 11 would do very nicely, and if you can get the gates off so the people can walk down that street again, that'll be a bonus.

Sorry. This really is a serious issue. You've had more than enough to put up with this year, and I do hope the worst is over.
