I am new here (obviously)
it is very hard to understand what people now and have tried already.
all i seem to pick up is that you all use hijack this.
why dont people state when they post a problem what they have tried etc or is this just a post your problem site?

lol. I guess alot of people end up here after they have a problem, type some words into a search engine and end up here. Many of them wont even have contemplated posting on a fourm, but once they exhaust all avenues of traditional manufacturers support, they have no choice but to make a post on a help forum.
taking this into account, its inevitable that many different types of people will make posts. Many will have no experience of forums whatsoever. Its like if my girlfriend calls me to say the washing machine isnt working. She says what she sees - the washing machine is not working. I have to then prompt her to say what state it was in when it stopped working etc. Im a broadcast engineer and so understand that details like this are essential to fault finding. Many people dont think like this, as theres probably rarely a need for them to do so.
I know its frustrating when people post saying 'my pc isnt working' or other extremely brief descriptions, but its due to the fact that they dont understand how pc's work. If they push the on button and it doesnt boot, to them its 'just not working'. To us it can mean a number of things, and this is why further questions should be asked. If you feel someone isnt 'technically' or 'logically' minded, then do not follow-up with technical questions - try to keep further questions simple, but still try to achieve the same answers. Most of all, DONT GET ANGRY OR TYPE IN BOLD OR MAKE SARCASTIC COMMENTS !!

We have all had a point in our lives where we knew very little about the technology and software that surrounds pc's. As a community we should try and educate people and spread the more fundamental knowledge that we have.
