Under Edit Options there is also a Subscription box

Default Thread Subscription Mode

Using Do not subscribe works for me

But there is also No e-mail notification

Hey guys, There is a default option in your profile to auto subscribe, you just need to make sure it's set to no. Then you can manually subscribe to threads.

The reason the default is to subscribe is so that when a new user posts a question they are reminded to come back here otherwise we could have loads of questions asked and people forget where to come back to to get the answer.
