Re: Chat from - "Upgrade or Buy New"
Oh my God. I like a lot of very abstract, surreal and even plain stupid humour but that link goes to a load of absolute nonsense!!
I appreciate the free llama though - thanks
Been working most of the weekend so I didn't get a chance to mow the lawn. Fortunately, the llama's making light work of it out in the back garden. Is it a he or a she?!

oh yeah and ive wroten a 2 page word document of everything thats gone wrong, every call ive made to tech, time and dater and the name of who i spoke to and what they told me, what the guy said today etc, so if they try and so much as say " we didnt say that" there buggered, and if 2morrow he fits a new fan and says " that will fix it i garantee" imma make him sign to say that if it dosent fix it, its down to evehsam to replace the system

Make sure you send them a letter as soon as he's been tomorrow (regardless of the outcome) and explain how you're an active member of a computer forum and have had nothing good to say about them so far. I've only had one Evesham system before (our main server at the office) and I had to call them out once. Can't remember what the problem was but they replaced quite a lot of stuff just to be sure it was fixed. They were very good ... but that was quite a few years ago.
Start your letter off with something like "As most computer companies get much of their business through recommendations, I felt that you should know about the disappointing difficulties that I have experienced with my recent purchase of a high-end Evesham system".
They might need to be reminded that when someone like you spends a lot of money with them and you are happy, you then recommend that several other people spend lots of money with them. When you aren't happy, you recommend that several other people go and spend lots of money with a company like Dell instead.
Talking of Dell, I'm really fed up with one of the systems I've bought recently. March is by far their busiest sales month (as it's the end of the tax year for businesses) and, therefore, April is probably their biggest month for repairs but what they've been doing recently is rubbish. I bought, amongst other things, 5 identical desktop systems a couple of months ago and one of them had a problem that they had clearly seen in Quality Control and still sent it out faulty anyway. Then I bought another identical desktop system last month and that also had a problem that must have been seen during testing but was still sent out - I couldn't get it to turn on! The power button was all loose. I logged a call on their '60-minute support' call logging system on Wednesday lunchtime but didn't actually manage to speak to someone until Thursday afternoon. Someone came out Friday with the wrong parts. Someone else came out today with one correct part and one damaged part. I've now got the original problem fixed but they are having to send someone else out AGAIN tomorrow to replace the second problem. Oh yeah, and we noticed today that the keyboards all wonky as well!
See what I mean? Now I've just put someone off of buying from Dell and they might go and buy an Evesham instead!!
AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
And, to make it worse, I've just had a 13-hour day at the office and I've had to bring a load of work home

I'm fed up. I need a cuddle. Where's Prudence?!
lol.

You havent put anyone off Dell since its your experience
Actually, what you describe is the typical EOQ buildouts. I know from experience that what they test is done in 2 hours, not long enough to even make sure the circuits are fully warmed up to Op temp. They do not use the KB or Mouse to test, they connect through the NIC or USB and then use DMI to test out the system and OS without breaking the Software "Seal".
I have taken calls where the system wouldnt power up and it was because the ATX connector fell off during shipment (put on enought to test but not to survive shipment) which is what I am guessing you went through. The built them fast enough to not put everything down tight and since Test doenst test power switch, KB or Mouse (require attachement times that Dell wont pay for) and they are now pushing 2500 units per line per hour (when I worked there they only dreamed of 450!)
We have all Dell Servers and Laptops with nary a hitch (Lost a fan on a server after 7 years of service...not bad!)

*prudence comes a running* cheer up * prudence gives cuddle*
dont worry there getting a nice letter though the post curtocy of my dad, hes very good with these kind of things.
lets see he had a fault on his mercades, and convinced them to give him a replacment car, which cost 10 grand more, at no extra cost.
the strap on my lapop bag snapped, and my laptop fell down the stairs, and dad managed to convince sony to give me a brand new upgraded model because the old was "faulty".
evesham WILL PAY!
we had an evesham before, they came out to repair it the next day( this was in dec)
fixed the broken fan ,and noticed somthing else was "wearing out" and replaced that too, they always been absolutly brilliant before... maybe this is a 1 off
either way i get to come homme from school eary ( my mums gonna call mewhen tech guy arives, and imma leave and come home to get things sorted)
