File cabin
Ok filecabin.com will be launched on wednesday after I get the new dedicated server on tuesday and the new design coded. I was just wondering what features you would like a file/image hosting site should have. Should I make people register to use it or should I offer on the main page an upload bit where they have restricted file sizes and if they register they have more space?
What should each account limits have for storage sizes I was thinking of 500MB space per account and 10GB bandwidth.
Also should I have a report piracy area because I once had a webuser image hosting page just for members of webuser but somone abused it and uploaded childporn, very sick thing to do whoever it was!.
So just wondering what you think it should have/
thanks.

just a couple of things...
1> Basic membership No registration - that's a definate
2> Basic membership includes maybe limited filr types and sizes e.g.
Basic Membership = jpg, gif, tif, bmp - no larger than 800x600 and 1Mb in size
Full Membership = jpg,gif,tif,bmp,zip,mov,avi,mpg,wav,mp3 etc - 1Gb space - 10Gb Bandwidth Month
3> Tag a URL on every image which is posted by a basic user which links back to filecabin.com (great for link buiding)
4> Place a "report link" under every hosted file for reporting misuse

hi david,
do you mean when somone posts an image on a forum it is clickable back to my site like imageshack does?
thanks

Well even better than that, put a small url underneath or above every image with randomized anchor text pointing back to filecabin.com
Then you can get say 10 different links randomizing e.g.
File Cabin - Free Image hosting
Image Hosting provided by File Cabin
File Cabin - The best image host on the net!
etc etc
-
Oh you mean provide the bbcode so a text link will be displayed, I can do that but most people will just direct link the image I suppose.

huh? No I mean that URL is randomly selected and displayed as static html whenever an image hosted by you is displayed on a website....
