PC power issue?
I'm running into a very serious issue with my computer; Late last night I crawled under my desk to unplug my External Hard Drive. The problem is my computer seems to lose all power and shut off, but for some reason my External Hard Drive still has power. And the really weird thing is my computer won't come back on until I plug my External Hard Drive back in. Does anybody know how to fix this vexing issue?

Can you be more specific? The Ext. HDD stays powered up when the system shutsdown or you Internal HDD stays powered up? How hot was it under your desk? Does the Ext. Drive supply its own power?

Sorry about that, I just edited my post to make it more understandable.

So, lets double check, when you unplug the Ext. HDD the computer shuts off, when you put it back in the PC restarts. The Ext. HDD supplies is own power, doesnt draw from the computer? If the last question is yes, then your system is pulling more power than the PSU can handle and the extra power is coming from the Ext. HDD.

Or I was really tired and I unplugged the computer instead of the External Hard Drive...
Sorry AphJN, I was trying to be funny, but I forgot sarcasm doesn't travel over the interwebs.

Sarcasim works, its called a flame...Facetiousness, thats just humor
I understand. A few bleery eyed moments and the wrong power cord will cause some serious consternation. Thats why I always label or bundle my cords (you should see my rats nest at the server) when I setup systems at work. I dont even want to attack my home server...6 usb cords, 10 power cords (Server, Monitors, UPS, Surgesuppressors, 1 Fireware Ext. HDD, 2 USB Ext. HDD, 1 zip drive...) 2 monitors cords, 1 PS2 KB cord, 10 Switch Network Cables, 4 Phone line cords, and so on...All behind my desk of doom!
