Exclamation Get Ubuntu off my computer!

I was having problems with my Vista on my laptop and I thought by installing a full Ubuntu would be a good thing. Now I am regretting this. I can't do anything with it, I can't play my games, it doesn't use windows executable files( I tired working with WINE and I hate it), I can't download and install my MP3 player program. I hate this OS. I tried to use my HD deleting tool but, it did not remove or format my HD, Ubuntu is still there. I have tried my restoration cd and it won't work with ubuntu on my HD. Please help, ubuntu is like a virus on my HD. I have only used it for 2 days, and Im ready to throw my laptop into the trash, but I can't live with out it.

Use GParted to delete the partitions. Ubuntu creates two.

Ubuntu should offer GParted as a boot option.

If not you can create the bootable ISO from this download:

    GParted -- Download

I will try it, but a couple of questions first?

One, will it format my PC?
Two, do I have to make a boot-able disk (and how) or is there an option to make it boot-able?

I got the GParted, but haven't found how to make it boot-able.

GParted will only work operations on the partitions you tell it to.

If you tell it to delete the partitions containing Ubuntu then it will not affect your Vista partition.

If you accessed GParted via Ubuntu see if it will delete it. If not you need to create a bootable ISO CD.

Did you not do this for Ubuntu?

If not we can show you how to create that CD. Let us know.

I did do a bootable disk for ubuntu, but I don't know how to on ubuntu software.

In that case you need to reinstall Vista.

Did you receive a Vista DVD?

If not there should be a Recovery Partition.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

Umm yeah I have an Acer 5920, it has an eRecovery program on the drive, but when you mess with the partitions is makes recovery CD and the program (itself) unoperatable and it would have to be sent in to be repaired if you are with in your warrenty and have to pay for shipping ( am past warenty and has been sent in twice for repairs and the tech support for them are idiots). My mom has an XP disk that possibly works on my system (even thou its a Dell disk) it just cant find the HD when I try to install. So I figure at lest XP isn't installed like Vista which is an ISO file/disk (or are other disk versions different), XP disk acctually has something to/in it(right?).

Oh yeah I have only had ubuntu for 2 days...lol

Your laptop probably has a SATA hard drive which XP cannot detect without special drivers.

You cannot just install another copy of XP anyway. You'd need to buy a new one.

You buy the Product Key which cannot be duplicated.

If you don't want to send it back upgrading to Windows 7 is vastly superior to Vista.

I just wanted to use the XP disk till I get money at the begining of the month when I can get "7", I have an ATA Hitachi HTS54251K9SA00 HD.

All the reviews I read for an Acer 5920 say a SATA hard drive which XP would need special drivers in order to "see".

I doubt that Acer would have such drivers as it was a Vista designated system.

Sorry to not have good news but overwriting Vista was a big mistake. Most people install Ubuntu as a secondary OS (dual boot).

The Linux file system is not readable to Windows although Linux can read Windows.

Anyway not much to offer besides a return for a Vista reinstall or wait till you can get 7 in.
