Get Ubuntu off my computer!

Re: Get Ubuntu off my computer!
They did have a special download that would down grade your Vista to an XP, I wonder if I still have that disk somewhere(acer tech thought that might help me a long time ago) I read that it was a downgrade program that was boot-able but they do not have that download section any more...mmm@#$%... And I have moved since then.
Good news is my mother decided to go 60 to 75%(I pay) with me to get a Windows 7 disk for our 3 computers for only $149.99. So at the beginning of the month we can get that. I just cant wait 2+ weeks to get off the OS.

I see no such options from Acer:
Acer Support - Drivers & Download
Ubuntu should give you Internet etc.
What particular programs are you missing that WINE cannot supply?
Good news is you will like Windows 7.
-
They had the downgrade software there last year but they took it off, it was in one of those hard to find sections unless tech support told you how...
I need a Zune MP3 player, all my games(sandlot, and other types), The Sims 3 is a big part of it, I read the reviews for it on WINE and it didn't look that good to play using it. and frankly it was just to difficult in general to use. I can't even use my cordless mouse, but it made my touch mouse work better in a way.
The Ubuntu Media Player froze on me today, along with the WINE program and had to reboot. To me all Ubuntu was good for is Surfing the Web. But not all the plug-ins work. Plug-in-play isn't even possible.
I love my .exe (executable) programs that Ubunto won't install...

Deja Vu
You already posted that.
Acer does have a SATA driver listed as Vista but it is a chance.
They do not allow direct linkage but go here:
Acer Support - Drivers & Download
Go to your model then scroll down to SATA.
You would need to Save then Send this to a USB stick or floppy drive which I doubt you have.
Then during XP install look at the bottom of the screen for "Press F6 to load drivers"
Then when prompted point the installer to your USB drive with the SATA drivers.

Sorry about the double post, my post didn't show up and I reloaded and it doubled..
Cool I already downloaded it last night in my infinite wisdom, I wanted to make sure I had all my drivers for it on my external HD before so I wouldn't need to be connected to the internet when I did all this.
They do have one lised for XP for SATA AHCI Driver. Will that one work?
I can try that, will it acknowledge the USB and does it have to be a blank USB with only the SATA driver on it?

No problem.
It should recognize the USB.
To simplify I would only have that one driver on it.
Otherwise you might have the option to browse to it in particular.
Trial and error which you appear to be good at.
-
Yes, very good and trial and error...
One last thing before I go to try this out...I forgot to ask if the driver needs to be unziped, I guessing it does, but I just want to ask first, don't know how smart it can be?
-
Yes it needs to be unzipped.
-
And the XP SATA should work...just to make sure?
-
It is your best hope at this point.
When you boot the XP CD look right at the start on the bottom of the screen for "Press F6 for Drivers".
Press F6 and things will continue to go on for like a minute.
Then the XP Installer will ask you where these drivers are and then just point them to your USB device.
