Are you saying that you lost you Network Manager? I would suggest joining MEPISlovers Forums - Powered by vBulletin
and starting a thread there about it. I don't run KDE Mepis. I run Antix Mepis which uses 2 totally different Windows Managers from Stock KDE. The guys at Mepis Lovers are really cool, knowledgeable, and nice people when dealing with new Users. Just Let them know you migrated from PCLOS and that you are still learning a apt based distro.

As a side note, SAM Linux Desktop - Welcome released a new Version and it is based on PCLOS running a XFCE Desktop. It is a German distro based on PCLOS. Might be worth a look for you also.

Yep. Only on my Desktop which is a IBM M57 with 2 gig of ram. I run the 8.04 LTS version though instead of 8.10 or 9.04. It is the only operating system on this desktop.

rokytnji I have new HD with ubuntu 9.04 installed. No problem with the install. The problem is ubuntu locks up all the time. Do you know of a way to fix this? Fred

Probably a Video Card Issue. Have you gone to Hardware Drivers in System>Administration>Hardware Drivers and see if there is a driver to be loaded for your video card in there.I say this because you are probably just running with the generic driver right now. Freezup is usually always video driver related. You can open Terminal and type in

sudo lspci

to get a readout on what type of graphics card you are using and use <Linux> - Google Search to look around to see how other users got their video sorted by enterning card name with Ubuntu 9,04.

I run Ubuntu 8.04 Long Term Support because of its stability. Ubuntu 9.04 is the latest and greatest from the 6 month release cycle and I don't run it. So I might not be a lot of help there.

Well if PCLOS 2009 ends up giving you fits the link I gave you in post 31 is the German version of PCLOS 2009. Same Distro, different name.Kinda like Ubuntu and Linux Mint. The only difference is packaging but underneath it is same,same.
