Well Fred, I tried the PCLOS Wiki first but it is still a work in progress and doesn't have enough volunteers yet to contribute to the writing of documentation yet. So I found some cheatcodes for PCLOS at Pendrive Linux at the link below. Good luck and I hope you have success Fred.

When you get to the first boot screen with the menu showing you can start typing in the cheat code. It will show up on the bottom of the screen. From what I have read the

seems to be the way to boot up the 2009.1 live cd

I can not get any thing to work. Will not load up so I can install from the CD. I'm thinking about giving up. I have used linux for 3 or 4 years & never had a problem. I don't know where to go from here. Thanks Fred

Is the md5sum check on downloaded iso file OK using Terminal or md5sum checker for Windows? Did you burn iso to cd at a slow speed like 4x. Like I said. I have never had much luck with rpm distros. I use apt based or source based distros. I even had problems with Mandriva which a lot of people don't have problems with. Just the way it is i guess.

I did the burn at 2x. I have 3 or 4 PCLOS CD work on other PC.Tried the no pata, sata & all of the other things i could think of. I'm at a stand still. I don't know where to go or what to do. I have a feeling that the sata HD or the sata DVD player is the problem. I feel like the VD card is fine, but I don't know. XP works no problem I could see this the other way PCLOS working & XP locking up. Oh well. Thanks for all the help.

One more stab in the dark Fred. I read this in a PCLOS 2009 post.

I installed PCLinuxOS 2009 on a desktop of mine yesterday, and here's my issue:

When I installed it, I had to install using the Videosafemodevesa (or whatever that's supposed to be) otherwise, it just locked up.

Minime 2009.2 load up to starting UDEV: & it stops. Tried all the options nothing worked. Tried with some cheat codes. The all generic ide did not work. I don't know where to go from here. I think that ubuntu will load up. I tried it before pclos & there was some things that would not work. Dial up was one. Thanks to all of you. Fred

If you are not happy with Ubuntu Fred because of Dialup. You might give MEPIS 8 a shot. I run Antix 8 which is the Minnie Me version of Mepis 8. I like it.

Sorry you are having issues/trouble with PCLOS. The problem with some Linux distros is the developers take the generic Linux kernel and modify it to what it should have for modules and so their distro will boot up fine on some Hardware while not on others. It just hit me just. PCLOS is a rpm distro. Right? So you are used to rpm type distro why don't you try out Mandriva?

I'm on Mandriva. It is locking up about 1 to 2 times a day. I got along for so long a time with pclos. No problems so now I'm having to work this out. Taking more time than I wanted too. I'm on wireless internet so ubuntu will work. I just did not like it. But change is good. Will have to see where this is will take me. Fred
