    Re: Ubuntu Live USB HDD

I'll update you guys probably on Saturday or so. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day and I need to open the case so it'll be a little troublesome.

Let me sum up today as simple as possible.

Hard drive wasn't working well, I managed to extract as much files I can but it was terribly troublesome trying to skip all those corrupted ones. Each time I skipped I had to restart the hard disk. Bloody heck.

Installing Ubuntu was troublesome too. I couldn't figure out what to do to install it without the GRUB loader. Gave up and installed with it, first boot ended with an error 5.

Second boot. Voila! Works! Even though I asked it to boot from WinXP disc because I wanted to fix the bootsector. No idea why.

Now my friend Rokyt... Would you mind guiding a new guy into the world of Ubuntu?

.... I think I might just fail my exams because I'm so in love with Ubuntu right now. SO COOL. Well... I don't know much about it and haven't customized much but the mere possibilities is driving me bonkers!

I'm using the Jaunty Jackalope. 9.04.

I'm currently having three issues though.

    1. Sound is either very low or nonexistent. Even though I turn everything up to the maximum. I'm using Sigmatel and a google didn't help lol.

    2. How do I install those .tar.bz or something files...?

    3. I'm trying to figure out how I can import iTunes library into Amarok or a media player. Cause I don't know which player is good and I can't seem to throw my media player in.

    4. Make that four issues, how do I turn off that loud "beep" sound when I press the wrong button?

I need to get used to the new shortcuts.

Those 2 links should answer a lot of questions you have about Linux. Stay away from installing Targz files yet. Use your Synaptic Package Manager to install software in Linux. It is there for a reason. Learn to wade in the world of Linux before trying to swim. Walk before you run. Remember, Everything you know about using Windows doesn't amount to a pot of beans in Linux
    Linux is not Windows

PS did ya get my PM
