Talking Compaq 1540DM now running Windows 95/Puppy 2.15 CE

I am amzed sometimes what I can get a Linux distro to install and run on. My Wife picked up a cherry Compaq 1540DM with Docking Station with Windows 95 as its main O/S. It comes with a Pentium 1 cpu, 64 mb ram , and a hardrive measured in kilobytes. For giggles I setup a way to boot up Puppy 2.15CE of the cdrom on it even though bios doesn't give the option to boot from cdrom. Only the Floppy or Hardrive. I downloaded Smartbootmanager and made a image boot floppy. Selected Cdrom from smart boot managers menu list after booting up from my made floppy and hit enter with Puppy in the cdrom. Puppy commences bootup from cdrom and I select my language and 800X600 screen resolution using the Xorg option instead of Vesa. Everything loads up and I have a linux O/S system up and running. I run the Network wizard to load the driver and connect up my Xircom PCMCIA ethernet landline modem. (only dialup jack on this unit) I connect to my homepage with seamonkey and off to the races. Only drawback is with Pentium 1 google is slooooow. Its faster with the Dillo browser but when I log on to this site I get thanked for logging in and get redirected to the forums where I am told I am not logged in. Relog again and same old thing happens again. Anyway I just resurrected this old laptop from the dead using linux.

Google how many Compaq 1500DMs are running this way and you won't find many.

Did the install, Made a Wakepup Floppy from the install so when I boot up the laptop with the wakepup floppy in the laptop , the floppy finds my linux install . I still have the Windows 95 O/S intact on the hardrive so it is a dualboot Windows/Linux box. Maybe later on I will figure out how to get Winsdows 95 connected up to the internet. It was just easier to get it working in Linux, HA HA.
