help to get VLC media player installed
I am totally new to Linpus and am using Linpus lite.
I would really like to install VLC media player to view AVI files but am put off by some threads where people have had difficulty installing it.
rather than install it to the netbook itself (acer A110) would it be possible to install it to say a usb flash stick and run it from that each time i want to use it ?
If i go to the web site for the download i am not sure which section to chose from in the linpus list.
hope all this makes sense and any help very welcome
thanks

Linpus Lite is based under the hood on Fedora which uses RPM type packages. The horror stories you probably are hearing about is that Lipus Lite packages are lagging behind Fedoras and when someone installs a Fedora GTK+ update from the newer Fedora repositories it breaks their desktop. I don't think you can run VLC from a USB Stick but I could be wrong. I have never tried to. This blog here might give you an insight on what you need to do.Linpus Linux Lite Review | LinuxHaxor.net
