Mandriva 2008
Tried out the Mandriva 2008 Live Cd today on the Amrel Rt 686 EX , 900 mhz, 256 mb ram, 100 gig hardrive with the Dlink WNA 1330 PCMCIA wireless cardbus and Hardline ethernet cable attached. For reference the Dlink card has the Atheros chipset. Fired it up and connected up both the land line and wireless with no fuss. Runs pretty quick as far as internet and Desktop applications go. I am used to running the Gnome Desktop in Ubuntu and the Xfce Desktop in Xubuntu so the KDE 3.5 Desktop is going to be a new experience. I went ahead and did the install since all my hardware works in Live mode. Install was one of the simplest ones yet. Windows users unfamiliar with Linux install will breeze right through it as it is intuitive and geared toward Windows users migrating to linux. My advice to anybody trying to keep their Windows Partition and installing Mandrive as a dual boot use one of my tutorial Links under the post Help for Linux. I also suggest to always run a Linux cd in Live mode first to make sure all your hardware is compatible before you decide to install. Well, I just figured I'd post this thread so people trying to find what Linux distro is compatible with certain hardware would see this. Happy Trails

Just a later note on Wireless D Link WNA 1330 PCMCIA wireless G card and Mandriva 2008 KDE. The card worked flawlessly without having to do any configuring or compiling after the install. I just had to left click Knetwork Manager and click on Wireless Network-- Connect and that was it.
I realized I never mentioned that in previous post.
