These two links are very useful cd's to keep around. Kinda like tools in a toolbox. Oh, and for You Windows users, Supergrub disk has a option to boot into Windows also.

    Super Grub Disk Webpage

    GParted -- Features

And last but not least, in case you have a old computer that has a cdrom drive and floppy drive, but bios only lets you boot from floppy or hardrive. Cdrom is not one of the options in bios or usb or PCMCIA Cdrom. This Link will give you a seperate boot manager on floppy. I have used it and it rocks.

Thanks for the list, there are a few that I don't have which I will be adding to my bookmarks.

Here is one that is a must for all new linux users, The Linux filesystem explained .

Wine setup might also be useful.

I noticed a lot of Ubuntu links but you failed to list my favorite distro PCLinuxOS

Sorry bkdc. I can't get PCLinux OS to bootup on any off my boxes. You can post all the help links you wish for PCLinuxOS that you want. I also run Puppy Dingo Linux and NimbleX2008 but I concentrate on Ubuntu since I have that installed on 2 Laptops and 1 Desktop. You can fire away to your hearts content as far as I am concerned. Happy To have some fellow Linux users in this predominately Windows forum anyhows.

Thats odd, I use PCLinuxOS on two of desktops with no problem. In fact the reason that I went with PCL was that I had so many problems trying to configure Ubuntu that i got frustrated. I dowloaded PCL about a year ago, did the install, and wamo, I was up and running. The only problem I encountered was configuring my wireless network & that turned out to be a minor encryption problem.

I've recently tried Ubuntu live cd & could not even get to load. ?????

I'm currently running PCLinuxOS 2007; 2009 is due to be released shortly & I'm excited. Hopefully it will be as good as 2007.

Well, thats the cool thing about choice. You can run what you brung so to speak. Just look at all the choices on the live cd list. Also the How to Forge Link and Fosswire and Table of equivalents and a lot of other links i try to provide Like Linux Command.org Are not distro specific. Neither are some of the APC Mag articles. Speaking of Free Downloadable Linux mags Here are some free ones.

    Full Circle Magazine
