hi jehpree, i a macbook user posted some question in the past alreadi.. i using mac OS X version 10.5.2, processor 2.1Ghz intel core 2 duo running in 1gb 667 Mhz DDR2 ram... this macbook is quite slim compare to some other brands like acer, compaq... i notice that my macbook get heat up easily after using it for 3 to 4hrs.. i'm wondering if it will overheat... whats the maximum period of power on a labtop ? example maximum 5 hrs to 7 hrs without offing... is there any product to cool down like what i saw in some stores, its a acrylic made with 2 colling fan to place it under the labtop... need some help here... OR is there any software to let me control my macbook's temperature..

As with Desktop PCs, Laptops do generate a lot of heat, but we feel the effects more because all the hardware is tightly compacted into one small space and the keyboard and mouse pad are directly attached to this. I have a Gateway laptop and when using this, it gets quite hot after a period of time, but I know the laptop is designed to get rid of the heat through extractor fans and vents. It therefore doesn't worry me and I know it isn't going to turn itself off.

Laptop manufacturers couldn't get away with a "You can only use me for 4 hours" sticker on the back of the laptop in order to avoid overheating. So laptops are designed to deal with their heat.

If the heat is bothering you, consider getting a laptop cooler to place underneath the laptop and extract more warm air.

but a macbook base is just no vent.. so wondering is note book cooler will help ?

The laptop cooler that I pointed out will simply cool the laptop down a bit via the use of a fan and make it cooler to the touch for you. It will have very minimal impact on the internal temperature. Like I said, your laptop is not likely to overheat, external cooling devices are simply to decrease the temperature of the laptop for the users comfort.

Remeber, a processor will stand an amazing amount of head before it overheats.. And this is Apple, and I highly doubt that they would use insufficient cooling.. IMO I don't think you need to worry that much..
