prepare a hdd for new OS - best method

    Hi,
I am going to remove my current OS on my old PC.
    I used this method before:
I booted the old PC from Hirens cd. Then I used one of their partition managers to delete the partition[s]. It then said the whole hdd was unformatted. Then I installed a new OS.

Is this the best method or can this lead to errors on the hdd?

If you want to LLF then you can also use Active@ Kill Disk and can be downloaded here: http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm
